Jay-Z teamed up with Jay Electronica and released a remix to Drake and Soulja Boy’s hit track ‘We Made It.‘
On the track Jay-Z took direct shots at Drake after he made disparaging comments about him in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.
In the Rolling Stone interview Drake stated, “It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references. I would love to collect [art] at some point, but I think the whole rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny.”
Jay-Z fired back on ‘We Made It’ saying, “Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk. Silly me, rappin’ ’bout s**t that I really bought — while these rappers rap about guns that they ain’t shot — and a bunch of other silly s**t that they ain’t got.”
After hearing the track Drake immediately jumped on Twitter and began to unleash a verbal assault against Jay-Z. “F*ck that big lip camel looking dude,” Drake wrote. “He (Jay-Z) has never been able to see me on the mic. I am the greatest rapper to ever sit in a booth. Y’all wait til I drop this freestyle and put this old dog out of his misery. He raps about art, drug-dealing, and fashion when everyone knows this lame is an ex-snitch who sold dime bags of weed, while trying to pretend he was a kingpin. #FOH. These old heads need to respect the king. These elderly rappers are going to stop throwing rocks at the throne.” Drake later deleted the tweets.
The fans can only hope the two rappers, who are consistently ranked among the best in the game, go at each other on more tracks. There has not been a good rap battle in many years.
