Early Sunday morning, news spread of a rift between rapper T.I. and welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather in a Vegas Fatburger restaurant. That altercation has reportedly led to a mutual agreement between the two camps to have T.I. step in the boxing ring for an official fight with Mayweather in September.
Speculation surrounding the altercation seem to point back to a possible inappropriate relationship Floyd Mayweather had with T.I.’s wife Tiny. Reports stated that the Atlanta rapper spotted Floyd in the restaurant and approached him about the rumors. This led to T.I. swinging on Floyd and an eventual chair-throwing melee took place thereafter. Video clips have also surfaced with Floyd audibly yelling for T.I. to “control [his] bitch”.
When we asked T.I.’s management for a statement on the rumored September clash, we were told “Listen, Tip doesn’t back down from anyone—that includes Floyd Mayweather. He’s been around this type of stuff his whole life, so to make money for beating his ass was a no brainer decision for him. They’re both around the same size, same weight. Just know that we’ll be ready come September. We hope he is.”
Floyd’s camp gave no statement outside of confirming that “the fight is on, we just hope they know what they got him into.”
We’ll keep you updated as more details surface.
